In 2026, to mark the 20th anniversary of the passing of Grandmaster Mei Yueqiang (梅曰强), his student Mei Shijun and a circle of devoted disciples commissioned a limited series of 50 memorial guqin.
This recording of Liang Xiao Yin (良宵吟) was performed on Memorial Qin No. 1 — the first instrument of this commemorative series.
A note on the title: While most editions of this piece use the character 引 (yǐn), Grandmaster Mei Yueqiang preferred 吟 (yín) — a subtle but telling choice. Where 引 carries the weight of musical form, 吟 suggests something more personal: a quiet humming, a gentle musing. Listen, and you may hear the difference.
